Desde há muitos anos que nutro um enorme fascínio pela obra e personalidade de Frida Kahlo. Este Verão, quem se encontrar na região de Lisboa, vai ter oportunidade de ver uma exposição de fotografias sobre esta corajosa mulher e fantástica artista latino-americana. Já está na minha lista e espero não faltar.
Aberta ao público a 15 de Maio, a mostra Fashion Icon Frida Kahlo, com curadoria de Astrid Sauer, estará patente no CascaisShopping, em Alcabideche, até 12 de Julho. Os visitantes terão oportunidade de apreciar mais de quarenta fotografias originais da pintora mexicana Frida Kahlo, numa exposição apresentada pela primeira vez em Portugal.
Estas fotografias “são testemunho de eventos que marcaram não só a pintura e a vida artística de Frida Kahlo mas, sobretudo, a sua maneira de ser e o seu estilo único que influenciou decisivamente, e continua a influenciar, a moda”, afirma a organização sobre a exposição.
Este conjunto de fotografias “apresenta Frida Kahlo em momentos privados e públicos e revelam a personalidade de uma artista mas, ainda mais, de uma mulher que se tornou o símbolo da força e independência do universo feminino”. As fotografias percorrem as diferentes fases de crescimento da artista mexicana, desde a infância até à idade adulta, e capturam “momentos passados com o seu marido, o artista plástico Diego Rivera, encontros em família e de convívio com os seus amigos”.

For many years that I cherish a huge fascination for the work and personality of Frida Kahlo. This summer, those in the region of Lisbon, will have the opportunity to see an exhibition of photographs on this courageous woman and fantastic Latin American artist. It’s already on my to do list and I hope not to miss it.
Open to the public on the 15th May, the exhibition Fashion Icon Frida Kahlo, curated by Astrid Sauer, will feature in CascaisShopping in Alcabideche until July 12th. Visitors will have opportunity to enjoy over forty original photographs of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, on exhibit for the first time in Portugal.
These photographs “are witness to events that marked not only the painting and the artistic life of Frida Kahlo, but above all, his way of being and its unique style that decisively influenced, and continues to influence fashion,” said the organization of the exhibition.
This set of photographs “presents Frida Kahlo in private and public moments and reveal the personality of an artist but, even more, of a woman who became the symbol of strength and independence of the feminine universe.” The photos run through the different stages of growth of the Mexican artist from childhood to adulthood, and capture “moments spent with her husband, artist Diego Rivera, family gatherings and socializing with your friends.”
